Schedule
The regular season runs from May to September, with each team playing 40 games. The top eight teams (regardless of conference) qualify for the playoffs, culminating in the WNBA Finals, which is played in October.
The All-Star game occurs midway through the season in July (except in Olympic years). The league hosts an annual mid-season competition, The Commissioner’s Cup, which dates vary from year to year.

Rules
While MNBA and WNBA share the same basketball fundamentals, there are some rule differences. The official rulebook can be found here. Below is a selection of some important rules.
- Games are 40-minutes total, divided into 10-minute quarters
- Shot clock is 24-seconds, resetting to 14 seconds after an offensive rebound
- Each team has five full “team” timeouts and one reset” timeout
- Players are ejected after their sixth personal foul
- Players are ejected after their second flagrant foul
- Flagrant 1 is if the contact is deemed “unnessary”
- Flagrant 2 is if the contact is deemed “excessive”
- Players are suspended for a game after their seventh technical foul
- Players are suspended for two games after their sixth flagrant foul
